Commercial Manager
Job description
Job Title: Commercial Manager
Location: Brandesburton
Thorn Baker's Award-Winning Modular Specialist client with over 65 years of experience is looking for a Commercial Manager to manage the Commercial team to maximise margin and opportunities, ensure timely submission of applications and collection of cash, and assist with final accounts and disputes.
You will be reporting to the Head of Operations (Rental).

Required Skills:
- Degree in Commerce, Quantity Surveying
- Excellent communication and people management skills
- Minimum of 5 years commercial management experience
- Figure-orientated team player, determined and conscientious multitasker
- Knowledge of construction contract law preferable
Your Responsibilities:
- Management of the commercial teams and daily operations in the department
- Ensuring Performance and targets are monitored and discussed monthly with the team
- Live project Summary report reviews, ensure financial reports and forecasts arecomplete and accurate at month end
- Resolve Final Account disputes with clients and Sub-contractors within 2 months of off hire and ensure dilapidations are maximised.
- Understanding of contracts and associated risk areas
- Ensure commercial team are liaising with operations team to keep current with variation orders and progress on projects.
- Lead CPR meeting covering all live projects.
- Ensure application registers are maintained and accurate for all projects
- Review contingencies, variations and values in risk,and weekly cashflow.
- Ensure correct application of monies and receipt of payment certificates in linewith the contract
- Implementation of IFS and training and development of the system when live
- Compare PDOC's to scope to monitor overspend and any margin degradation
- Monitor costs and margins on projects in hire cycle due to maintenance, remedial and variation orders
- Assist with negotiations of subcontractors to maximise margin through negotiation and tighter control over costs and variation orders.
- Assist Commercial Leads with collection of cash when required
- Attend all launch meetings and ensure appropriate allocation of commercial leads to projects
