Overview:
Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Shop Floor Supervisor for a manufacturing business based in Chesterfield. This is a dual role combining team supervision and active support on the production floor. Ideal candidates will have a background in welding or steel fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise a team of 5 welders and 5 general operatives

• Ensure daily production targets are met across welding and finishing operations

• Participate in shop floor activities when required

• Oversee health and safety standards, PPE usage, and housekeeping practices

• Support continuous improvement initiatives

• Communicate effectively with team leads and other departments

• Monitor quality control processes and ensure compliance with internal standards

Essential Requirements:

• Previous experience in a welding, steel fabrication, or industrial manufacturing environment

• Team leadership or supervisory experience in a production or workshop setting

• Good understanding of health and safety procedures

• Ability to interpret production requirements and meet deadlines

• Hands-on approach with strong communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

• Welding qualifications or coded welding experience

• Knowledge of ISO quality standards and safety best practices
