Refuse Loader / Waste Operative / Recycling Operative
Location: Sheffield / Chesterfield
Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour (rising to £12.71 from 1st April)
Job Type: Temporary / Seasonal (26–38 weeks)
Hours: 37–42 hours per week

Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are recruiting for Refuse Loaders and Waste Operatives to work with a local council across Chesterfield / Sheffield.

This is a physically demanding, outdoor role ideal for candidates with experience in labouring, waste collection, recycling, or other hands-on roles.

Refuse Loader Duties:

• Collecting household waste and recycling bins
• Loading refuse and recycling into collection vehicles
• Working as part of a waste collection team
• Completing daily collection routes
• Supporting street cleansing and environmental services
• Manual handling and lifting throughout the shift
• Walking long distances (up to 20,000 steps per day)

Requirements:

• Experience in labouring, warehouse, refuse collection, or outdoor work preferred
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Reliable and able to commit to full-time hours
• Full UK Driving Licence required - need to commute to site for early starts
• PPE required (safety boots and hi-vis)

Hours & Pay:

• £12.21 per hour (increasing to £12.71 from April)
• 37–42 hours per week
• Early starts (typically early morning shifts)
• Ongoing, full-time work for 26–38 weeks
