Job title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: South Yorkshire
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000
Sector: Rail & Infrastructure (Rail experience not required - ideal for candidates looking to move into a new sector)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

 

 

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of project awards, we are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join our Operations Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS who is looking to broaden their experience - previous rail experience is not essential and we welcome candidates from other sectors (construction, civil engineering, infrastructure) looking to make a move into the rail industry.

 

 

Role Overview:

 

You will provide commercial leadership across a wide variety of rail and infrastructure projects throughout the UK, ensuring successful project delivery from a financial and contractual standpoint. You will work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors, contributing to the continued commercial success of the business.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide full commercial control of a range of projects to ensure delivery on time and within budget
  • Offer commercial support and guidance to project and operations teams
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and contractual obligations
  • Review and advise on contract terms and conditions
  • Price and agree variations and compensation events
  • Manage monthly applications and payments, optimising cash flow
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients
  • Ensure the effective and timely resolution of commercial disputes
  • Prepare monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) and WIP (Work in Progress) reports
  • Manage and administer sub-contracts as required
  • Review and negotiate contract terms and advise management of any risks or qualifications

 

 

Required Skills & Experience:

 

  • Previous experience in Quantity Surveying
  • Recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of commercial management and contract law
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience in the rail sector is not essential - full support will be provided to transition into the sector
