Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Joiner to join our team on a high‑profile shop fit‑out in Manchester city centre. This contract will involve delivering precision joinery works within a retail environment, ensuring premium quality and finish.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Interpret Drawings: Read and work from detailed shop drawings and specifications.

• First‑Fix Joinery: Construct and install sub‑frames, door linings, levelling battens, and carcassing.

• Second‑Fix Joinery: Fit bespoke counters, shelving, display units, cabinetry, architraves, skirtings, and trim finishes.

• Measurement & Cutting: Accurately measure, mark out, cut, and plane timber, MDF, and composite materials.

• Installation: Secure joinery items to walls and floors, ensuring perfect alignment and structural integrity.

• Fit-Out Finishes: Install hardware (hinges, handles, locks) and ensure seamless joints and mitres.

• Quality Control: Check all work against design tolerances and finish standards, rectifying any defects immediately.

• Collaboration: Coordinate with other trades (electrics, décor, flooring) to sequence work and avoid clashes.

• Health & Safety: Maintain a clean, safe workspace; use tools and equipment responsibly; adhere to all site safety protocols.

Requirements

• Proven shop fit‑out or commercial joinery experience.

• Strong competency in both first‑fix and second‑fix joinery.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

• Own set of joinery tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).

• CSCS card (or equivalent) and up‑to‑date health & safety training.

• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality finishes.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work extended hours under tight deadlines.
