Highways Maintenance Supervisor
Job description
Thorn Baker are currently working with a market leader in the Highways Term Maintenance Industry, responsible for looking after over 50,000 kms of the UK’s highways network. They take pride in offering a dedicated, flexible approach which supports their clients, underpinned by the recruitment, development and retention of a locally based workforce.
Role Overview:
As a Supervisor in our Highways Term Maintenance division, you will oversee and coordinate the activities of Highway Coring teams, ensuring the successful execution of surface dressing preparation works and other related tasks. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise Highway Coring teams, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
- Plan and schedule surface dressing preparation works, including pot hole repairs, siding out, line removal, line reinstatements, cat's eye removal, and reinstatements.
- Coordination and Communication: Organise and manage letter drops for planned works and maintain clear communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Assist in verge maintenance tasks, provide support during winter maintenance operations, and manage emergency out-of-hours call outs as needed.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies. - Conduct regular site inspections and audits to maintain high safety and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all works completed, report progress to management, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in highway maintenance supervision or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of highway construction and maintenance methods.
- Familiarity with surface dressing, pothole repairs, and line and cat's eye management.
- Experience with winter maintenance and emergency response operations is desirable.
- Ability to work out-of-hours and respond to emergencies as required.
