Position: Assistant Site Manager – Heritage Restoration Project
Location: Dewsbury, West Yorkshire
Rate: £220 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Temporary (with the possibility of extension)

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly capable Assistant Site Manager to join our team on a significant heritage building restoration project in Dewsbury. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a solid background in conservation and heritage work to contribute to the preservation of an important historical site.

About the Role:

As the Assistant Site Manager, you will play a key supporting role in the day-to-day management of the site. You will report directly to the Site Manager and assist in the coordination and supervision of all on-site activities. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining progress according to schedule, and upholding the quality and craftsmanship expected on heritage projects.

This position demands a high level of attention to detail, a proactive approach, and a commitment to respecting the architectural and historical integrity of the building.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management of site operations, including scheduling and coordination of subcontractors and trades.

  • Monitor the progress of the works against programme milestones and assist in implementing corrective actions where required.

  • Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

  • Work closely with conservation officers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure sensitive restoration practices.

  • Maintain detailed site records, including daily logs, delivery schedules, and progress reports.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment on site.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience working on heritage or listed building projects is essential.

  • Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.

  • Up-to-date First Aid at Work qualification.

  • Valid CSCS card (appropriate to the role).

  • A solid understanding of traditional building methods, materials, and conservation techniques.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead by example and uphold professional standards at all times.
