Job Description
The Assistant Site Manager supports the Site Manager in the effective management and delivery of construction projects, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and project deadlines. The role involves active site supervision, coordination of subcontractors, and communication with stakeholders to maintain project momentum and resolve issues promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organising, and supervising daily site operations to ensure timely project completion.
- Monitor site progress and quality to meet contractual requirements and client expectations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies, promoting a safe working environment.
- Coordinate and liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and project team members to facilitate smooth workflow.
- Support the Site Manager in managing site resources, including labour, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate site records, reports, and documentation as required.
- Identify and report potential risks or delays, proposing solutions to mitigate impact.
- Participate in site meetings and contribute to progress reviews and planning sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
- Current First Aid qualification.
- Site Supervisory Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
- Full, clean driving licence.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a construction site supervisory or management role.
- Practical understanding of construction processes, particularly in new build projects.
- Familiarity with site health and safety standards and best practises.
- Experience working on storage facility or industrial construction projects is advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to site challenges.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Competent in using site management software and digital tools.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Working Conditions
- Primarily based on-site in Sutton, with occasional travel to other company locations as required.
- Full-time hours, with flexibility to work additional hours to meet project demands.
- Work involves exposure to outdoor conditions and typical construction site environments.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all times on site.
