Fake WhatsApp Messages Claiming to Be Thorn Baker

We’ve recently been made aware that scammers are impersonating Thorn Baker and contacting people via WhatsApp about job opportunities. These messages are not genuine, and we want to make sure everyone knows how to spot and report them.

What's Happening

Fraudsters are sending WhatsApp messages pretending to represent Thorn Baker, often using informal or vague introductions such as “Hey you” or “Are you looking for work?”. They may even use our company name, logo, or fake consultant details to appear legitimate.

We want to make it clear - these messages are not from us.

Thorn Baker will only ever contact you through our official business channels, which are:

  • Verified company emails ending in @thornbaker.co.uk

  • Official phone numbers

  • Our verified social media accounts

We will never:

❌ Ask for payment or bank details
❌ Request personal documents over WhatsApp or text
❌ Offer jobs without a proper registration or verification process

What to Do If You're Contacted

If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from Thorn Baker:

  1. Do not reply or share any personal details

  2. Take a screenshot of the conversation

  3. Email it toverify@thornbaker.co.uk so we can investigate

  4. Block and report the sender on WhatsApp

How to Protect Yourself

Unfortunately, recruitment scams like this are becoming more common. To protect yourself:

Check who you’re speaking to - make sure the number or email address matches our verified contact details.
Be cautious of urgent or vague messages - scammers often try to rush you into responding.
Confirm directly with us - if in doubt, call your local Thorn Baker office or email verify@thornbaker.co.uk to verify any contact.

Your safety and trust mean a lot to us. We’re proud to have built our reputation on honesty, transparency, and genuine connections - and we won’t let scammers undermine that.

By staying alert and spreading the word, you’re helping us protect not just yourself, but others too.

If you’re ever unsure whether a message you’ve received is legitimate, please contact us directly. We’ll always be happy to confirm.
