Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are currently recruiting a Toolmaker to work in a clean, modern and fast paced manufacturing environment in the Bilborough (NG8) of Nottingham.

We need the ideal candidate to have a keen eye for detail, a solid experience in Toolmaking and Designing, be computer literate and be comfortable absorbing training to help run and maintain machinery. You will be required to work both day and night shifts (37.5 hour working week). The great news is that via the guidance of the fantastic on-site trainers the role can be learnt meaning if you are a reliable and driven individual looking for a stable role with avenues to progress its the perfect opportunity.

Key Information

  • Day/Night shifts on a 2-week rota.
  • 37.5 hrs/week
  • Mon – Thurs = 8.5 hrs (unpaid ½ hr lunch); Fri = 5.5 hrs (no lunch) (Monday to Thursday 7am - 3:30pm Friday 7-12:30)
  • Night shift: 3 x 10 hrs Mon-Weds; 1x7.5hrs Thurs. (Timings TBC) 
  • Shift premium (Mon-Sat overtime x1.5; Sun overtime x2; night shifts, time-and-a-third)
  • Hourly rate is between £13.91 - £16.39 per hour depending on experience.
  • Experience in Progression Tooling
  • Experience working with 0.01 tensions. 

Duties

  • Operate a range of Tool Room machines and equipment to a high level of skill - milling, turning and grinding
  • Machine tooling to the required specifications and quality
  • Perform hand & bench fitting operations
  • To strive to maintain quality in line with the Company management systems and procedures – alerting a member of the management team of any issue of quality and risk.
  • To ensure that production and manufacturing schedules are in line with Company energy targets – being aware of own responsibilities to save energy and power consumption and alerting a member of the management team where potential negative impact is caused by working practices.
  • To assist Production Managers, Heads of Department and Leaders in promoting a positive and proactive Health and Safety culture.
  • In accordance with the management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and other relevant Health and Safety legislation, you have a duty to take responsible care to yourself and to others who may be affected by your work activities.
  • Shall correctly use all work items provided in accordance with training and instructions received.
  • To take responsible care for self and others during work activities in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Regulations – either correcting or notifying a member of the management team of any unsafe working practices.
