Job Location - Norwich

Thorn Baker are delighted to be working with a New Build Housing developer, recruiting for an experienced Architectural Technician (NHBC standards) with strong New Build Housing & Urban Development background, highly adept in using AutoCAD software & Revit to produce design layouts from initial concept stage through to construction stage.

This is a fantastic role, ideal for a
n AT with a HNC, HND or Degree in Architecture / Construction or similar disciplines, an Architectural professional with strong understanding of NHBC standards & Building Regulations (CDM 2015 etc.).

Layout Design:
- Concept stage layouts for land bid purposes.
- Layouts for Reserved Matters applications (detailed layouts).
- Master planning.
- Feasibility Layouts.
- Street scene creation and evaluation.

Supporting Role:
- Support the architectural design function of the group business.
- Deliver various design orientated tasks from concept to completion.
- Support site-based operatives with complex queries and assist to deliver solutions in a timely manner.
- Assist with group projects as required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work on a variety of layout designs from concept stage through to functioning construction/detailed layouts (Reserved Matters approved i.e. Access of the building/s, Landscaping, Layout, Scale etc.)
- Collaborate with the wider business to ensure critical analysis of layouts with regard to house types/street scene aesthetics and site constraints has been fully accommodated, whilst maintaining a 'buildability first' mindset.
- Ensure stakeholder considerations, recommendations and approvals are obtained and incorporated.
- Assist with the development and management of the group house type portfolio.
- Assist in maintaining working drawing packages to ensure sufficient information is provided to enable Building Regulation/NHBC approval.
- Submission of technical information to NHBC/Building Control.
- Assist in obtaining Pressure Test Certificates, SAP's, and EPC documentation.
- Co-ordinate information between third party companies to enable the design of specialist building components such as roof trusses, joists, block and beam flooring, M&E designs, and structural designs.
- Help maintain house type block plan library.
- Assist with site layout design as required.
- Provide planning support information such as assisting with street scene design, planning drawing packages and material schedules.
- Ensuring industry standards are met accordingly.
- Manage specifications and seek cost effective solutions for all necessary building components.
- Produce sales plans and associated literature.
- Co-ordinate drawing issues.
- Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times.

Relevant Qualifications or Experience Required:
- HNC/Level 4 in construction/urban design is essential.
- Foundation degree/HND/Level 5 is desirable.
- Strong background in New Build Housing (NHBC / CDM 2015 Reg's)
- Excellent knowledge of Planning Policy framework
- Excellent resourcing abilities regarding local planning policies/design guides and standards
- Good knowledge / experience using AutoCAD/Revit or similar industry standard software.
- Excellent communication, problem solving and time management skills.
- Understanding of building regulations and NHBC standards.
