Thorn Bakers 3rd Annual Corporate Golf Day
Over 70 clients attended the event, which along with Thorn Baker representatives, meant that there were almost 80 people out on the course during the afternoon.
A fantastic day was had by all, and with a number of prizes up for grabs there was no shortage of competitiveness. Firstly the day kicked of with 2 charity events, part of the TB20K (That's Thorn Baker raising 20k for good causes) season. Ian Beastall (Synseal) won the Charity 'putting' competition, holing a monster 50 foot putt, and Alan Booth (Shepherd Construction) won the Charity 'Pitching' competition, leaving his ball no more than a foot from the hole. Both Ian and Alan were presented with there Golf shop vouchers at the post golf awards ceremony.
Once the fun events were completed the 'serious' 18 holes of golf began....although having seen a fair bit of hacking in and out of water hazards, bunkers, ditches and long grass, I'm not sure it was as serious for some as it was for others!!
We were blessed with a brilliant days weather, warm and sunny from beginning to end, which meant for some rather rosy faces by the time we retired to the '19th' hole for refreshments and prize giving.
Along with the aforementioned prizes, the following were winners on the day;
Adrian Hardy (LF Intimates) Longest Drive
Steve Goodwin (Hawthornes) Nearest the Pin
Roy Wainwright (Aeromatix) Team Winning Fourball
Tony Bailey (Aeromatix)
Jason France (F&B Brickwork)
Michael Berg (F&B Brickwork)
Matthew Dann, Thorn Baker golf day organiser, commented, "The day has been an outstanding success, golfers of all abilities have had a superb days golf played on a really nice course. The Charity angle introduced some real fun to proceedings before the main event got under way. Most clients have already asked me for their invite to next years event!"
To top the day off an impressive £662 was raised for Ataxia UK, the chosen charity for the day. (For more info visit www.ataxia.org.uk)
