John brings 26 years of experience in recruitment to the party. He describes himself as recruitment man and boy; having got into his first recruitment role straight from Nottingham Trent University. John is one of the founding Directors of Thorn Baker.
As a hands-on Director, John ran the Technical and Permanent desks for many years and now heads up the Technical & Engineering Division and the Finance and Operations departments including; Accounting, IT, Payroll, Credit Control and Systems.
Married with 2 children, John is a keen golfer with a handicap of 13 and a member of Wollaton Park Golf Club in Nottingham. A lover of the great outdoors, he enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, walking and fishing. John also likes cooking for his family, going to live gigs and, as a season ticket holder, cheering on Leicester Tigers.
Having studied for a career in the construction industry, Paul graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 1994. A couple of years later, he took on his first role in recruitment in 1996 with a medium sized specialist recruiter. In 1998, Paul joined Thorn Baker to build the Construction Division. His career rapidly advanced as the company expanded, with promotions to Branch Manager and Regional Manager before joining the Board in 2001.
Key responsibilities are focused on leading the Senior Management team across the Construction, Industrial, Facilities Management and Office & Commercial divisions. Paul is also responsible for overseeing the firm’s Marketing Team and auditing function.
Paul is married with two lovely daughters and lives near Wakefield. A long-time Huddersfield Town fan, he also enjoys a wide range of activities outside of work including golf and running. Paul will often be seen taking the lead role for company charity activities such as the 3 Peaks Challenge.
After meeting her now husband in 1997 Cas relocated and registered with a Recruitment Agency for help finding employment. The Consultant placed her at their head office working in the Payroll Department processing wages for their temporary workers. After discovering a real enjoyment working in such a vibrant industry, Cas soon worked her way up to Payroll Manager.
Cas joined Thorn Baker in 1999. Starting with the Payroll Department, over the years she has expanded her responsibilities; she now manages the Payroll, Credit Control and Accounts departments.
A new mum, Cas loves spending time with her baby daughter, husband and their 2 dogs.
Since leaving University Matt had gained lots of experience working on Construction sites and took on his first recruitment role in 2001. Joining us in 2004, initially as Branch Manager, Matt has ten years of success in building teams and developing individuals within the sector.
Matt has now full operational responsibility for the Construction Division; currently managing eight offices across the UK. In addition, he is maintains relationships with key accounts, runs strategic projects and is responsible for the recruitment and development of internal Staff.
Matt regularly participates in Triathlons and running events, enjoys watching football and spending time with his family. Matt is currently studying for a Masters Degree at Durham University.
Matt is an experienced recruiter, who joined the company in early 2006 having previously held senior management positions in the Industrial Recruitment sector, giving him over 17years of Industrial Recruitment experience.
Matt has full operational responsibility for the Industrial Division with branches in Nottingham, Mansfield, Chesterfield, Leicester and Sheffield. He recruits and develops staff, looking after key accounts, managing processes and ensuring his teams are delivering the best possible service.
Matt is a keen sportsman, playing cricket and golf. He is also an avid Leicester Tigers rugby fan. Matt divides his time between work, sports and his family of 6 children.
